Graduated from Pedro Henriquez Urena National University (UNPHU) in the Dominican Republic in 1983, obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering. Until 1987, his time was shared between structural consulting and teaching at the schools of Architecture and Engineering at UNPHU and O&M Universities. He authored a book “An Introductory Course to The Mechanic for Civil Engineers”, which was used as a textbook at UNPHU university.
In Florida since 1988, Mr. Hernandez has been involved in the design of many structures including commercial projects such as Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall and BrandSmart USA super stores; hotel projects, including Divi in Aruba and St. Maarten, Frenchman’s Reef in St Thomas, Intercontinental, Ritz Carlton and Marriott in Miami; and large residential developments such as The Palace at Weston, and Marlin Bay Yacht Club in Marathon, Florida.
His areas of expertise include heavy timber, steel, masonry, tilt-up concrete, post-tensioned and cast in place concrete.
Mr. Hernandez has experience in computer modeling and design of tall structures, having designed buildings of up to fifty stories. Mr. Hernandez is a Florida Licensed Professional Engineer, Florida Licensed Special Threshold Inspector, Florida Licensed Building Plans Examiner, and also a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, New Mexico, North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as the Dominican Republic.
